7.3.6. Removal and installation of a spring

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Both springs of a back suspension bracket of the car have to be one group of rigidity and they need to be replaced complete with both parties of a back suspension bracket. Groups of rigidity of a spring mark paint. Establish a new spring with the same marking which was on old. If marking on an old spring is not visible, consult at Skoda service station.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Establish couplers on the removed spring 31 (see rice. Details of a back suspension bracket with drum brakes) and squeeze it a little. In the absence of a coupler the spring can be connected in the compressed state by a strong wire.

2. Turn off a bolt 23 lower fastenings of the shock-absorber, holding other key a nut 22 from a provorachivaniye. Take out a bolt 23, thereby having disconnected also the lower end of the shock-absorber.

3. You will hang out a back part of the car from the replaced spring until a wheel separation from the earth and establish a body on a reliable support.

4. Wringing out the lever of a beam of the 18th back suspension bracket within elasticity of a rubber-metal support 17 down, remove a spring from the car.

5. Carefully dismiss a spring, having removed from it couplers.

6. Remove top 32 and lower the 27th laying if they remained, respectively, on a body (in a wheel niche) and on a beam of a back suspension bracket.

7. 27 and 32 replace the laying which is strongly deformed or lost elasticity.

8. Examine the removed spring. If rounds of a spring are deformed, cracked or with contact traces, replace a spring.

9. Restore if necessary the damaged varnish covering of a spring.

10. Before installation of a spring the top and lower laying on it has to be placed so that the ends of extreme rounds were in dredging of laying, fix laying by an insulating tape or an adhesive tape.

11. Squeeze a spring couplers and install it on the car upside-down. At the same time 23 with a nut 22 lower fastenings of the shock-absorber replace a bolt new. The head of a bolt of the lower fastening at installation has to be directed to an internal part of the car. 23 you carry out a final inhaling of a bolt on the car standing on the earth. The moment of an inhaling of a bolt of the lower fastening of the shock-absorber – 40 N · m, then to tighten for 90 °.
