7.2.2. Repair of a telescopic rack
GENERAL INFORMATION

The defective damping rack needs to be replaced.

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Open a cowl, take off a protective cap and weaken a nut inhaling, holding a hexagon a rod from a provorachivaniye. After that remove a rack from the car.
2. Remove a plate 11 (see rice. Details of a rack of a forward suspension bracket) support from a rack.
3. Turn off a nut 2 and take out a bolt 3.
4. Insert the big screw-driver into a cut and accurately unclench a rotary fist 1 in the place of fastening of a damping rack 4.
5. Remove a rotary fist from a rack.
6. Clamp a rack in a vice so that not to rumple its case.
7. Squeeze a spring 7 special couplers.
8. Turn off a nut of the 10th rod of the shock-absorber, holding a hexagon a rod from a provorachivaniye.
9. Remove a support 9 with the bearing 8.
10. Remove a spring 7.
11. If necessary remove the protection cover 6 with the compression buffer 5.
12. Replace the damaged buffer of compression and which burst torn or lost elasticity the protection cover.
13. Replace the bearing if it has an axial side play, there are traces of dribble of lubricant from under protective rings, jamming of the bearing at a provorachivaniye and corrosion.
14. Replace a spring if on it cracks are found or rounds are deformed. Depending on rigidity of a spring mark paint. Establish a new spring with the same marking which was on old. If marking on an old spring is not visible, consult at Skoda service station. It is recommended to replace springs on both sides.
15. Establish a damping rack vertically and several times against the stop lower and lift a shock-absorber rod. Then be convinced that it moves without failures, jammings and knocks. Otherwise replace a rack. The damping rack should be replaced also at detection of traces of dribble of liquid and damage of a carving to the top part of a rod.
16. Replace the burst, bent support and a plate.
17. Collect a telescopic rack upside-down. At the same time replace new nuts of a rod and a coupling bolt.
