4.23. Check of the drive of a butterfly valve

PETROL ENGINES

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the top casing of the engine (see subsection 2.1).
2. Disconnect a block with wires from the drive of a butterfly valve.
3. Connect an ohmmeter to contacts of the 3 and 5 drive and measure drive resistance. The ohmmeter has to show resistance of 3-200 Ohms. If the measured resistance differs from specified, replace the drive of a butterfly valve.

Prevention

At installation the new drive of a butterfly valve needs to be coded to coordinate it with the control unit of the engine therefore it is recommended to replace the drive with car repair shops.

4. Check the supply voltage of the drive of a butterfly valve. For this purpose include ignition and connect the voltmeter to contacts of the 2 and 6 block with wires disconnected from the drive and then to contact 2 and "mass" of the engine. In both cases tension has to be about 5 Century. If the voltmeter shows 0, check wires for break and short circuit.

DIESEL ENGINE of 1,9 L, 74 kW

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the top casing of the engine (see subsection 2.1).
2. Launch the engine and leave it to idle.
3. Switch off ignition, at this moment the butterfly valve has to be closed approximately on 3 with, and then open again.
4. If it does not occur press a rod of the drive of a butterfly valve, it has to move easily, without jammings.
5. Check density of landing of a vacuum hose on the union of the drive of a butterfly valve.
6. Check operation of the drive of a butterfly valve, having pumped out from it air, for example, the manual vacuum pump.
7. If the drive of a butterfly valve is serviceable, check the valve of the drive of a butterfly valve. For this purpose disconnect a block 1 with wires from the valve 2. Connect an ohmmeter 3 to contacts of the valve and measure its resistance, it has to be 25–45 Ohms. If the measured resistance differs from specified, replace the valve.
8. If the valve is serviceable, check a chain of its food. For this purpose connect 1 voltmeter to contacts of a block and, having launched the engine idling, measure tension. The voltmeter has to show tension of the rechargeable battery.
9. Switch off ignition, approximately through 3 about tension has to fall to 0. If it does not occur, check wires for break and short circuit. If in conducting malfunctions are not revealed, it is necessary to replace the control unit of the engine.
